Who Are We?

WHO ARE WE? We are volunteers who want to rid our county of the eyesore the litter creates on our highways. We know the agencies and people in Caltrans, City of Mill Valley, Strawberry and Marin County responsible for litter cleanup and continued maintenance. We are diligently working with them to resolve this problem.

  2. Dear Vicky and Jill, Thank you thank you thank you. For several years now I have been shocked at the lack of maintenance along 101 and Tiburon Blvd. Here we live in one of the wealthiest areas of California and it has been so "trashy" and unkempt. It's embarrassing, you'd think we were in a poverty stricken area. Every spring and summer I would see that Larkspur and Corte Madera were beautifully maintained with lovely maintained landscaping. I just couldn't understand that they were so much better off financially than Mill Valley and Tiburon. Not only did 101 exit ramp and entrance ramp look trashy and overgrown but also parts of Tiburon Blvd. I am on a tight budget but would like to donate $ to help out. I will also spread the word to friends about your wonderful efforts and need for financial support. Thank so very much for making our beautiful Tiburon/Mill Valley as beautiful as we all know it is. It already looks much better, not to mention less of a fire hazard. I hope we can get some colorful plants like Corte Madera and Larkspur have in addition to the cleanup.

  4. If there is anything doable ....The Scenic Overlook at the GGB Northbound is beyond imagining.
Just step up to the edge and glance down as you scan the East Bay before taking that photo.
    It is so gross !

    1. Thank you for your concern and input. We had a meeting yesterday (9/24) with Sausalito Dept of Public Works and National Park Service to discuss the litter on the GG Bridge and Alexander Avenue area. We will be posting information to our new website regarding our next meeting November 5th. Please check at:

  5. Hi Vicky and Jill,
Excellent site with litter updates and resources. You mention in one of your archived newsletters that Golden Gate Bus Route 101 will be getting new trash cans. Who is facilitating/funding that? As you said, it's really complicated about who has jurisdiction and funding to provide those. I'm down in Monterey and we have some trash-strewn bus stops that need garbage cans. Not sure where to start between the City of Monterey and the County...
    Thanks,
    Linda

    1. Linda, jurisdiction is a very tricky issue. Our new trash cans simply replaced very old, ineffective ones. Golden Gate Bridge District paid for them, but the property they are located on (the bus stops) is actually Caltrans property. We do know from our experience that when you approach the various government entities that it is helpful to have photos of the litter. Good luck!
